Dreaming of a Happy End (Sanders/Connolly) 3.30
Only want a bit of company...

You came in with sunlight and your hair was soaking wet
Caught up in April showers and you haven’t got an umbrella I’ll bet
You wanted a peaceful room, view & a shower
Basic bed & breakfast, maybe a bunch of flowers
I offered you an easy chair and a hot steaming drink
You looked like you’d had it, too tired to even think

But I must be patient - wanna be your friend
But you’ll catch me dreaming of a happy end

You told me that you’d run away, needed some space
Away from your family & the whole human race
Beaten & all shook up, aching inside
So I wrapped my arms around you and I said, “It’ll be alright”
You cried on my shoulders cried far too long
Told me about the boys you didn’t wanna be away too long

But I must be patient - wanna be your friend
But you’ll catch me dreaming of a happy end

You gathered up your senses & brushed away the tears
And you looked into my eyes & I washed away your fears
You said that you were sorry, you didn’t mean to cry so much
But you had no-one to turn to; you had no-one to touch
I prayed that you’d stay with me right by my side
Got to scared to tell you you’d only run & hide

But I must be patient - wanna be your friend
But you’ll catch me dreaming of a happy end
