Paul Connolly - Singer & Songwriter
Biography
I started to become interested in music when I first heard Sinatra and then Elvis. When I heard Chuck Berry, the Beatles and the Stones I was captivated - gone.
I taught myself to play guitar by copying what I heard on the records and became a musician and writer.
I grew up in the Brighton area of England and left home at 16. I travelled and lived in New Zealand and Australia where I worked in several occupations.
I played anywhere - clubs, weddings, restaurants, festivals and on street corners such as the red light area of Kings Cross, Sydney with a variety of underground artists including Matt Braund, Jamie Briton and Gypsy Steve Rivers.
I returned to live in England and completed a Music Degree in Cambridge and taught the guitar privately as well as in schools and prisons.
My music, poetry and short stories are about my experiences of going around the world quite a few times. The songs have a narrative feel and I am promoting them on planet earth and continuing to write.
I produced and recorded the "Mind the Gap" CD in the "Sound for Image Studios" at Kemp Town with the fabulous Phil Saatchi who was great at filling in the gaps.
